During her final months at the CHUV, she initiated and managed a video project for patients with shoulder pathologies and/or who had undergone shoulder surgery, to help them with their rehabilitation, in collaboration with the musculoskeletal physiotherapy department at the Orthopaedic Hospital. This project was initiated during the Covid pandemic.
She then completed her training with 2 fellowships at world-renowned centres for shoulder surgery (Centre Santy with Dr Arnaud Godenèche and Clinique Générale d'Annecy with Drs Laurent and Thibault Lafosse).
On her return to Switzerland, she worked in Dr Georges Kohut's team at the Clinique Sainte-Anne in Fribourg, before setting up as a freelance doctor in the Chablais region, where she treats shoulder and elbow pathologies.
In 2023, she began working with the sports medicine team at VidyMed, opening a consultation one day a week. Then, in 2024, she transferred all her professional activities to Lausanne and opened her own practice in the Clinique La Source, while continuing to work at VidyMed. Since June 2024, she has also held the Advanced Training Diploma in Specialised Traumatology. (A diploma recently created jointly by the Swiss Societies of Surgery and Orthopaedics).
During her career, she has been involved in a number of scientific projects, including a multicentre study by the SOFEC (Société Française de chirurgie de l'Epaule et du Coude) on cuff repairs in patients ≤ 45 years of age. This study was presented to the SOFCOT (Société Française de Chirurgie Orthopédique et Traumatologie) and the SFA (Société Francophone d'Arthroscopie) in 2022.
Dr Sandrine Mariaux specialises in shoulder surgery (arthroscopic surgery of the cuff and labrum, prosthetic surgery, surgery for recurrent dislocations).
She also has experience in the management of traumatic injuries to the shoulder and elbow, thanks to her university training.
